Kathleen Rathbun
Artistic Director
As well as directing the school, Ms.Rathbun is also the Artistic Director of Upstate N. Y. Ballet, Inc. Ms. Rathbun is an accomplished pro-fessional dancer and choreographer. In February 2006, she choreographed "Sleeping Beauty" - prior years, "Romeo & Juliet", "Swan Lake", "Cinderella" with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and other Ballets to capacity houses and Four Star Reviews Ms. Rathbun has in-depth experience developing young dancers' technique, strength and artistry. Former soloist with Princeton Ballet Society of New Jersey and Dancer's Ensemble of Syracuse. Ms. Rathbun attended Juilliard on scholarship. She also studied with: David Howard, Melissa Hayden, Finis Young, and other world renowned teachers. Ms. Rathbun taught classical ballet at Syracuse University and was the former director of the Dance Department at Metropolitan School of the Arts.

Philosophy
I welcome you to join in the experience of dance through Ballet & Dance of Upstate New York, Inc. Our goal is to provide professional training and guidance in an enjoyable setting to further each student's development both physically and mentally. The lessons learned through dance provide both motivation and discipline to enrich their everyday lives.

Melissa Gould
Jazz & Tap Instructor
Ms. Gould has more than 25 years experience in all disciplines of dance. Her areas of expertise include lyrical and commercial style jazz, funk, tap and character dance, as well as costume and set design. She has appeared in Upstate NY Ballet's productions of "Swan Lake", "Snow White", "Cinderella", and "Dracula". Ms. Gould has choreographed and performed in "The Candle-light Series" in Armory Square. She has danced in Syracuse Opera's production of Don Giovanni. She has danced with Sophisticated Productions and with such names as Gus Giordano and Mark Santoro. She has performed with various schools and performing companies. Ms. Gould is a dance consultant for local gymnastic dance teams and has been teaching and choreographing in the Syracuse area for more than 18 years. Ms. Gould is a devoted teacher who emphasizes terminology, dedication and discipline in a fun and exciting atmosphere and is an asset to our staff.

Maryann Page
Ballet Instructor
Raised in North Carolina, Maryann studied and performed lead and soloist roles with the Raleigh Dance Theater. Summers she trained in top levels at Pennsylvania Ballet. Boston Ballet, Richmond Ballet and the Atlanta Ballet. After graduating from high school she pursued a B S in Biology at Saint Mary's in South Bend, Indiana. She continued performing lead roles in Southold Dance Theater's productions of the "Nutcracker", "Coppela", "Swan Lake" and "Giselle", plus numerous contemporary and original pieces. Maryann joined Upstate NY Ballet in 2000 and has choreographed and performed in their "Candle-light Series: in Armory Square - 2002 & 2003. She has performed several soloist roles with their productions of "Swan Lake", "The Sleeping Beauty" , "Dracula", "Cinderella" and "Snow White". Maryann is currently a faculty member in the Biology Department at Onondaga Community College Maryann is a multi-talented teacher and we are proud to have her on our staff.
